Portimão has a long fishing tradition, where you can visit the excellent recovery of an old factory, the Museum of Portimão. It is in the riverside area that you can taste the grilled sardines, followed by a maritime tour around the Marina.

Only six kilometers away from Portimão is the fishing village of Alvor, where it maintains its charm in the streets of white houses and colorful boats. At the highest point there are some sections of the castle walls, but the highlight is the Igreja Matriz with a lavishly carved 16th century portico and the panorama you can see from the churchyard over the sea and the Ria, which has a special charm at dawn, when absolute tranquility reigns.
